Lynskey's only British movie to date, 'Shooters' depicts the

final week in the life of a gangster's leg man, J, who is having

marital problems and has an incurable addiction to cocaine.

The tone of the film is much darker and much more visceral

than most of the films Mel has been in. Playing Marie, Lynskey

co-stars alongside her former boyfriend, Andrew Howard.

This very much adds to the tension between Marie and her

husband 'J', played out in graphic hysteria towards the end of

the film. Like 'The Long Good Friday' and 'Get Carter', there  is

no upbeat resolution to the story.

Bleak it certainly is. Yet, it also proves to be undeniably

gripping, well-acted and very well-written.
