Her
first foray into the horror movie genre, the film
'Claustrophobia'(or
'Serial Slayer', as it's called in the U.S),
tells
the story of Lauren who invites the staff in the department
she
is head of to a weekend party, but only two female
workers
(Mary Lynn Raskjub and Sheeri Rappaport) turn up.
The
party spirit is severly curtailed by a madman, determined
to
murder all three women, who are trapped in Lauren's
house.
Rather than cower, they decide to turn
the tables on the
sadistic killer by outwitting his every
attempt to try and
slaughter them.
The film reunited Lynskey with Mark Taipo
Kines, who had
given her the opportunity to work on
her first movie in three
years, 'Foreign Correspondents', back
in 1997. It's barepit
atmosphere has received mixed reviews,
but it has given
something fresh to the slasher flick,
just as movies like 'Texas
Chainsaw Massacre' and 'Halloween' once
did.
