Her first TV project, 'Rose Red' is the story of a group of

people connected with the paranormal who go into a house

whose name forms the title. In amongst them is Rachel

Wheaton(Lynskey), who is accompanying her younger sister,

Annie, an Autistic with telekenetic powers.

Written by Stephen King, it centres on the initial journey of

self-discovery as much as it does on the terror that the house

inflicts on its guests. Although underused in the part, Melanie

makes a good job of acting on television, something that she

had no experience, prior to this project. It was whilst she was

filming that she met her current beau, Jimmi Simpson, who

played a snidey photo journalist.

In spite of the project being marred by the tragic death of one

of the main stars, David Dukes, 'Rose Red' proved a good first

experience of acting on TV for Mel.
