The internet is one of the best things to be invented in the past
twenty years. Nobody can be a fan of Melanie Lynskey and
have cause to doubt it, for the world wide web was what
helped to resurrect her film career.
Budding director Mark Taipo Kines, who
was a website
designer for Paramount Pictures, came
across the only site at
that time to be dedicated to Lynskey
and contacted her, with
the intention of casting her as the lead
in his two story film
project 'Foreign Correspondents'. Financed
through internet
sources, the finished movie did not get
a release until two
years after its completion.
It was halfway through the shooting of
the film that
Lynskey won her first speaking role
in a Hollywood movie.
This marked the end of her three year
absence from
mainstream cinema.
