The story of a young woman who tries to cut her ties with her

past and ends up re-embracing it, 'Sweet Home Alabama' was

the first major box-office hit that Lynskey had been in-volved

in. The project reunited her with Andy Tennant, who  had

directed her in 'Ever After'.

Lurlynn, Mel's character, was the archetypal woman from the

Southern American states, although a bit nicer. She closely

resembled the personality of the main star Reese

Witherspoon, herself from one of those Southern states.

After the film was released, the pace of her career started to

speed up, and she is now at the stage where she is making

more than one film per year.
